Jailbreaking Your PS4 in 2026: The New WebKitty Guide for Firmware 13.52 (No Disc Needed)
⚠️ Check your firmware before you start. This guide reflects the situation as of September 30, 2026: the public WebKit exploit via WebKitty covers firmware up to 13.52, with full support from GoldHEN 2.4b18.11 since September 20, 2026. Note that 13.52 is NOT the latest PS4 firmware: Sony has since released firmware 14.00 (September 16, 2026), which patches the very kernel flaw WebKitty relies on and blocks the jailbreak. If your PS4 is already on 14.00 or newer, do not update further and check the exploit's official repository for any compatibility update.
After years in which the PS4's internet browser was closed off to exploits, forcing users through a home-burned Blu-ray disc (see our HenLoader LP guide), a new WebKit vulnerability has reopened the browser route: it went public on September 19, 2026 under the name WebKitty. Combined with GoldHEN, it lets you install the console's most widely used homebrew enabler with no Blu-ray burner and no disc, just the built-in browser.
Prerequisites
You'll need: a PS4 on exactly firmware 13.52 (check under Settings → System → System Information); an internet connection; and nothing else, no USB drive, no burner, no blank disc. Before anything else, disable automatic downloads under Settings → System → Automatic Downloads, so Sony can't patch the exploit before you get a chance to use it.
Steps
1. Go to Settings → Network → Set Up Internet Connection → Custom, and set a custom primary DNS (check the official exploit repository below for the current value, as it can change).
2. Open the PS4's internet browser from the home screen.
3. Navigate to the site hosting the WebKitty exploit (official link below) and wait for it to load and cache up to 100%.
4. Once the exploit runs, a notification confirms GoldHEN has loaded.
5. Return to the home screen: the GoldHEN menu is now active, with its built-in patch manager for installing homebrew.
⚠️ Important warnings. The jailbreak isn't persistent, you'll need to rerun the exploit after every full console restart. A failed attempt can cause a freeze or reboot, usually harmless, but avoid cutting power mid-run. Never update your PS4 past firmware 13.52 until compatibility is confirmed, or you'll lose access to the jailbreak. Finally, going online with a jailbroken PS4 risks a permanent PSN account ban: RetroVault only condones using backups of legally owned games.
