PS5 firmware 14.10: Sony ships security fixes days after the Relapse exploit

Sony is rolling out PS5 update 26.06-14.10.00 with unspecified security fixes, just days after the Relapse exploit went public. A link between the two has not been confirmed.

Sony began rolling out PS5 system software 26.06-14.10.00 (firmware 14.10) on October 1, 2026. The official notes are very short: Sony mentions security fixes plus performance and stability improvements, with no new features. The rollout is phased, so some consoles may wait up to 24 hours before the download prompt appears.

The timing stands out: the update lands only days after the release of Relapse, the public exploit that can jailbreak PS5 and PS5 Pro consoles on firmware 7.00 to 13.60 by chaining a WebKit flaw with a kernel flaw. Sony has never said which vulnerabilities are fixed, though, and nothing officially confirms that firmware 14.10 closes Relapse. Several specialist outlets present the link as a hypothesis rather than an established fact.

What if your console is jailbreakable?

Caution remains the rule: an official update cannot be undone, because PS5 firmware cannot be downgraded. If your console is still on a firmware between 7.00 and 13.60 and you want to keep the option of using Relapse, do not update it and turn off automatic updates in the system settings. The official repository, Relapse Exploit on GitHub, remains the reference for tracking any compatibility with newer versions, and our complete step-by-step guide covers the procedure for consoles that are still compatible. This situation reflects October 8, 2026 and may change quickly.
