PSBBN Definitive Project: July update adds PS1 games and a multilingual game selector
Developer CosmicScale released a new update to the PSBBN Definitive Project on July 2, 2026, the most complete replacement for the PlayStation Broadband Navigator, the official dashboard that originally let users launch PS2 games from an internal hard drive. This version adds full localization into seven languages (English, Japanese, French, Spanish, German, Italian and Brazilian Portuguese) with automatic detection of the system's language, along with a new Game Selector that lets users choose exactly which titles appear in their collection.
The most anticipated addition concerns PS1 games: they can now be installed directly to the exFAT partition alongside PS2 games and apps, removing the space limitations previously imposed by the APA format. The installer also bundles POPSLoader, a dedicated application that makes it easier to browse and launch PS1 games, complete with automatic artwork downloads.
The project, which started in 2023 as a simple English translation patch for the original PSBBN, has since grown into a full suite featuring an automated game installer, a file manager via wLaunchELF-R3Z, and a multilingual system configurator called R3CONFIGURATOR.
PSBBN Definitive Project remains an ever-evolving "rolling release," meant to be installed on a PlayStation 2 fitted with an internal hard drive (network or IDE). The project is available as a free download on GitHub, and the PSX-Place community offers a complete step-by-step installation guide for newcomers on its dedicated forum thread.
