RetroBat Jumps to Version 8.2.0 and Overhauls Its Emulator Lineup
⚠️ Update as of September 22, 2026: RetroBat 8.2.1 has been released since this article (August 23, 2026), with new updates to Dolphin, DuckStation, Flycast, Gopher64, Jgenesis, MAME (0.289), PCSX2, and RPCS3. See the official RetroBat changelog.
The team behind RetroBat, the all-in-one distribution that turns any Windows PC into a retro gaming machine, released version 8.2.0 of the software on August 8, 2026. This major update bundles new versions of almost every built-in emulator, along with roughly fifty bug fixes.
A full lineup of emulators brought up to date
Built on EmulationStation, RetroBat offers a single interface to run dozens of pre-configured emulators without any technical setup. Version 8.2.0 bumps Dolphin (GameCube/Wii) to build 2606, Duckstation (PS1) to 0.1.11295.0, MAME to 0.288 and RPCS3 (PS3) to 0.0.41-19521. PS4 players should take note: shadPS4 moves to version 0.16.0, a mandatory update since older versions of the emulator stop working. Xenia (Xbox 360) and its variants also receive a round of adjustments.
On the new-features side, RetroBat adds a PCSX2 fork called PCSX2X6, built specifically to run Namco246 and Namco256 arcade games. Controller support and arcade configurations have also been expanded, while roughly fifty fixes touch Dolphin, MAME, ScummVM and custom key mapping, among other things. Existing users can update straight from the launcher, or grab the full installer for a fresh install; the official wiki walks newcomers through the whole process step by step.
