Sega Rally Championship gets online play again on PC and Xbox via new fan project

The classic arcade racer Sega Rally Championship, originally released on PC in 1997, is back in modernized form thanks to a project by developer Wanszai. Their wrapper, available as a direct download on GitHub, lets the game run on PC, Xbox 360, and Xbox Series X, with a set of enhancements built for the occasion.

New features include cross-platform online play for up to 4 players, System Link support, wheel and force feedback compatibility, a choice between 16:9 and 4:3 display, HD/UHD scaling, plus CRT filters and custom soundtrack support. The project's GitHub repository also serves as a getting-started guide, with detailed installation instructions in its README.

Your own copy of the game is still required

As is often the case with this kind of project, the author makes clear that neither the ROM nor the original soundtrack files are provided: users must supply their own legally acquired copy of Sega Rally Championship for the wrapper to work. The project only modernizes the technical layer around Sega's original game.
