White Creek: a new survival horror game built natively for the Sega Dreamcast

Twenty-five years after production ended, the Sega Dreamcast is getting a brand new game built natively for it. Storybird Studio, backed by publisher Pixel Heart, has just unveiled White Creek, a psychological survival horror game that claims direct lineage from Resident Evil and D2, Kenji Eno's overlooked 1999 Dreamcast title.

In White Creek, players take on the role of Alicia Morelli, an exorcist exploring a cursed, snow-covered town. Weapons and psychic powers let her confront the possessed, with every encounter offering a moral choice: destroy the entity or try to save the soul trapped inside it. The game leans on complex 3D environments and the fixed camera angles typical of the genre in the late 1990s, with a trailer available directly in video form below.

A release that goes far beyond the Dreamcast alone

While development did start on the 128-bit console's hardware to make the most of its capabilities, White Creek is also planned for Steam as well as Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and the PlayStation and Xbox Series consoles. A Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign is set to launch soon to support the rest of development; curious fans can already sign up to be notified on the project's Kickstarter page, while a page is also available on Steam.
