Synopsis

Akai Ito tells the story of Okiku, a young woman who discovers that she is linked to an ancient Japanese myth. She learns that she is the reincarnation of an evil spirit known as Yamauba, who was sealed away for centuries.
As Okiku explores her past and tries to understand her connection to Yamauba, she meets other characters involved in this ancient legend, including Rando, an exorcist charged with watching over her. Their interactions and their quest to unravel the mysteries of the past form the heart of the game.
The story skillfully mixes fantasy elements, romance and exploration of human nature. The gameplay focuses on the player's dialogues and choices, which influence the course of the plot and the different possible endings. The illustrations and the soundscape help to create a melancholy and mystical atmosphere.
