Charumera
Synopsis
The word "Charumera" reminds Japanese people of one of the brands of instant ramen. It is the representative product of Myojo Foods. But originally, Charumera is not an instant ramen name. Charumera is the name of a type of flute imported from Portugal to Japan almost 400 years ago. It is cone-shaped with double reeds. The name charumera is believed to have been corrupted from a Portuguese word Charamela meaning "reed". Charumera was used by yatai soba (Yonaki-soba) originally about 150 years ago, then after several decades yatai ramen started using it. The melody of "Do-Re-Mi-Re-Do,Do-Re-Mi-Re-Do-Re" is strongly associated with Ramen yatai in the minds of the Japanese.
In this Playstation game, the player takes on the role of a wandering ramen yatai, who wheels his cart of delicious ramen dishes around a quaint little town, hoping to find the combination of taste, customers and timing that will make his fortune, while trying to avoid being harassed by the Man or small children.
