Synopsis
In the games, the player takes on the role of a captain (also called a commodore in some translations) and manages a maritime fleet to engage in trading, privateering, treasure hunts, explorations, and outright piracy. Even though the series is largely open-ended, there is always a plot that requires the player to follow certain paths, and deviating from these paths can block the story's progression.
