Synopsis

A curiosity for Koei (at least at the time of release) - an action-packed 3D fighting game. At least it's still steeped in traditional Chinese history and mythology - in fact, it's based on the setting used in Koei's Romance of the Three Kingdoms series.

More than 2000 years ago, Guang-Wu revived the Han dynasty in China. Wars and chaos ensued for centuries due to regional conflicts, rival dynasties and bureaucratic problems. A group of insurgents, the Yellow Turban Rebels, are roaming China, killing government officials...

...the current Emperor Shao is protected by troops raised by the country's nobles - but each noble has his own plan to seize power.

Characters can be chosen from four groups, each representing one of the main kingdoms - Shou, Wei and Wu, as well as a fourth group of miscellaneous characters.

Combat is based on martial arts and weapons (and their tactics) rather than combos, special moves, or other modern embellishments of fighting games.
