Espgaluda
Synopsis
Espgaluda is a shoot 'em up developed by Cave and published in 2003 on an arcade machine.
Buttons:
The first button is quite classic: repeated presses for a simple shot, a long press for a more concentrated shot and slower movements of the character.
The second button is used to activate/deactivate "kakusei" mode. This mode consumes green rubies gleaned from destroying enemies. When this mode is activated and the number of rubies is greater than 0, then all enemies (and their shots) are slowed. On the other hand, once the rubies reach 0, everything accelerates: This is what we call over-mode
The third button is used to trigger the bomb. The longer you let the button charge, the more energy you concentrate to launch a devastating wave. But be careful, this heavily consumes the green energy bar at the bottom of the screen. Note that in "kakusei" mode, a collision will not directly cost you a life, but will trigger a bomb consuming half a bar of energy.
Score:
The Ingots. When you are in "kakusei" mode, and you destroy an enemy, all your shots turn into ingots at the end of the "kakusei" (including in over-mode). The more ingots you have, the more you multiply the points. To maximize the obtaining of ingots, you must wait for as many pellets as possible to appear on the screen before eradicating the shooter.
The multiplier. In one "kakusei" session (and not in over-mode), all destroyed enemies and their pellets are transformed into a points multiplier which can reach x100. You must therefore optimize your "kakusei" sessions so that they are long and filled with pellets.
Rubies. To earn a maximum of points you need ingots and a high multiplier, but for that you need kakusei, and therefore rubies.
There are 2 ways to grow the ingot collection:
The first is the over-mode level. If you stay in over-mode for a long time, you will see a circle around you. As soon as this circle is completely consumed, you move on to the next level. There are 3 levels of overmode, and each one increases your ruby income. If you stop shooting during over-mode, these levels rise faster.
The second depends on the position of the destroyed enemy. When it is destroyed in the upper 10% of the screen, you will collect more rubies.
