Fishing is the activity of catching fish. Fish are normally caught in the wild. Fishing techniques include hand-gathering, spearfishing, netting, angling, and trapping.
Bass fishing is the line-fishing activity for the North American fish commonly known as black bass. There are many species of black bass considered gamefish in North America, including largemouth bass (Micropterus salmoides), smallmouth bass (Micropterus dolomieui), spotted bass or Kentucky bass (Micropterus punctatus), Guadalupe bass (Micropterus treculii), and many other species and subspecies. Although they are called bass, all are actually members of the sunfish family (Centrarchidae: order Perciformes).
