Synopsis

For Sudden Smith, accessing the Tollah moon base was not difficult. The hardest part was making your way through the maze of underground corridors, tunnelled chambers, gravel pits, and teleportals, freeing the ten humans held captive somewhere inside, and getting out alive. Not that there is much of a choice: a large-scale attack from space would ensure the deaths of the prisoners.

Trouble had begun when a renegade High Tollah, fearing the Tollah's traditional punishment for fallen leaders (due), sought refuge in the Star Union. In a fit of frustration, the remaining High Tollah ordered a handful of the closest men and women – who happened to be from the Orionian colony of Ultima Thule – to be taken prisoner. At a secret base located on a moon surrounding Rigel, at the edge of human-occupied space, Tollah scientists used their reluctant subjects to find a way to reduce the human race to the status of common Tollah, that is, sheep. In the Tollah's scheme of things, there was room in the cosmos for only one group of decision-makers: the High Tollah.
