Synopsis

Samurai Shodown (Samurai Spirits in Japan) is the name of a series of fighting games from SNK.
The series' stories are set in 18th-century Japan, during the Sakoku period or Japanese seclusion period (the first four games are set between 1788 and 1789), with great artistic license allowing foreign-born characters (including some from places that did not exist as such in 1788) and fictional monsters to be part of the story. The plot of each game is quite different, but they revolve around a central group of characters and a region of Japan.
