Synopsis

Serial Experiments Lain is an anime series directed by Ryutaro Nakamura, original character design by Yoshitoshi ABe, screenplay written by Chiaki J. Konaka, and produced by Yasuyuki Ueda (credited as 2nd production) for Triangle Staff. It was broadcast on TV Tokyo from July to September 1998. A PlayStation game with the same title was released in November 1998 by Pioneer LDC.
The video game Serial Experiments Lain was released for the PlayStation on November 26, 1998 by Pioneer LDC, and has never been classified into a particular genre. It is very talkable and entirely in Japanese (it has never been released outside of Japan). Throughout the game, with Lain's help, the player unlocks pieces of multimedia information (Lain's therapy sessions, his diary, his therapist's notes, video segments) to discover what happened to him. The game shares themes and protagonist, but not plot, with the anime series of the same name.
