Synopsis

Eidos kicks off the season with Soccer '97, its updated version of Olympic Soccer. Soccer '97 now holds a PFA license which allows the use of selected Premier and First Division teams, each with a full, up-to-date squad of professional players.
Matches are played in front of full crowds in multi-level stadiums, while all the action can be seen from a selection of camera angles ranging from pitch level to top-down views. Cameras are positioned on the touchlines, at the corner flag or behind the goal. Alan Green once again provides the ball-by-ball commentary as in Olympic Soccer.
Game options include a 1 or 2 player exhibition match, where two teams are selected to play in a single friendly match. Arcade is a 32-team knockout played over six rounds where only one team can be entered, but two players can join forces against the computer. A four-group tournament can be organized by highlighting the teams you want to participate in, with the group winners fighting for the trophy. Soccer '97 also gives you the opportunity to play a season in your own personalized league consisting of three to twenty teams.
