Synopsis

Cue sports (sometimes written cuesports), also known as billiard sports, are a wide variety of skill games that are typically played with a pool cue used to hit billiard balls and move them across a cloth-covered pool table bounded by rubber cushions.
Billiards: Cue sports in general, including pool, carom billiards, snooker, etc. The term "billiards" itself is also sometimes used to refer more specifically to one of the following sports:
- Carom billiards (also called French billiards) games in general (mainly non-British usage).
- three-cushion billiards, and even, more specifically, the most popular form of carom billiards in the world (most common specific use)
- The specific game of English billiards (mainly British, Irish and Australian use).
- Pool games (pocket billiards), such as eight-ball and nine-ball, in general (mainly familiar use in North America).
