Synopsis

The game is a direct sequel to the original Trails of Cold Steel and begins a month after its conclusion. Rean Schwarzer escaped alongside his Devine Knight, Valimar. He travels to his hometown, Ymir, with Toval's help, but Rean soon finds himself and his loved ones caught in the crossfire of the Erebonic Civil War. Rean's adversaries are the Noble Alliance, which has joined forces with the Imperial Liberation Front from the previous game, as well as Ouroboros, a recurring group of antagonists from the Trails series. Students at Thors Military Academy, including those in Class VII, find themselves scattered across the country. So Rean tries to bring everyone together again in order to end the civil war and save those he cares about.
