By using StreetPass, the player obtains many Pokémon from other players' Nintendo 3DS and can use them to battle. It was announced that a special Pikachu will be distributed with the game.
An in-game event is unlocked if the player brings their game to a showing of the film Diancie and the Cocoon of Annihilation at the cinema. It is then possible to connect the game to Pokémon X and Y.
