Synopsis

The gameplay of True Tears requires little player interaction as a lot of time is spent reading the text that appears in the lower part of the screen, representing either dialogue between characters or the inner thoughts of the protagonist. Before the start of each week in the game storyline, the player has the option to plan a schedule and is allowed to choose and view three days of the given week. Different events occur depending on the days the player chooses. Occasionally, the player comes to a "decision point" where he or she is given the chance to choose from the options displayed on screen, usually two or three at a time. Depending on the player's choice, the heroine's "rip points" associated with the day's events would increase, decrease, or stay the same. “Tear points” act as a system informing the player of how they are treating a certain character. If a character's tear points exceed the maximum number of eight, their ending is made inaccessible during that specific playthrough. There are several storylines that the player will have the chance to experience. To see all the plots, the player will have to replay the game multiple times and make different timings and choices during decision points to advance the plot in an alternate direction.
